At a department store, patrons were handed a discount voucher. They were able to purchase their first rice cooker at a 20% discount and a second rice cooker at half price. However, the price of the second rice cooker should be lower than or equal to the price of the first rice cooker.

(a) Cynthia paid $180 for one rice cooker using the discount voucher received. What was the usual price of the rice cooker?

(b) Mdm Fatimah paid $399 for 2 different rice cookers using the voucher that she received. The usual price of one rice cooker is twice that of the price of the other rice cooker. Find the usual price of the more expensive rice cooker.
